The living quarters on Ivar Aasen has seven floors and a total area of around 3,300 square meters. It has 70 single cabins, recreation areas, offices, hospital, control rooms and helicopter deck – all it takes to operate a small community offshore at Utsirahøyden. In addition comes two lifeboats and a man-overboard boat. Despite its volume and space, it weighs “only” around 2300 tons, which is due to the 10 lower meters that are made of steel, while the remaining upper 30 meters are built in aluminium.

“We are very pleased with the project and the work Apply Lervik has performed. The project is completed within time and budget, but above all, we are very happy with the excellent HSE standards shown. Several hundred men have worked without any lost-time injuries during the project since contract award took place in September 2013”, says Karl Johnny Hersvik CEO in Det norske.

Hersvik will Wednesday, 29 June at 12.30 participate in a ceremony at Apply Lervik at Stord to mark the completion and sail away – together with the personnel and management from Apply Lervik and representatives from Det norske.

The Ivar Aasen topside is currently on its way from Singapore to the North Sea.

- With the living quarter completed and the topside on its way from Singapore to the North Sea we are within schedule to achieve the goal of production start-up on Ivar Aasen around 1 December 2016, says Hersvik.
