On Monday 14 November a collaboration agreement was signed in Algiers (Algeria) by the public company INFRAFER, which carries out railway infrastructure works, and the Spanish company DF Rail, part of the Duro Felguera Group and which specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of railway equipment.
The purpose of the collaboration agreement is to hold negotiations to set up a joint company in Algeria for the common construction and operation of a railway equipment plant. DF Rail will contribute its technology and broad experience in the field of engineering and manufacturing of railway equipment.
DF Rail is currently supplying railway equipment for Spanish high speed train lines, and for projects as emblematic as the route from Mecca to Medina and the Mediterranean Corridor. In this regard, it is important to point out that DF Rail boasts its own developments and patents for railway equipment and components thanks to intense work in R&D&i and facilities with state-of-the-art technology in this field.
Algeria has started an ambitious expansion programme for its railway network, and plans to build 12,000 km by 2025. At the moment projects are underway in the country to build up to 5,500 km.
