Today, RWE Innogy took over the Taciewo onshore wind farm in Poland from Gamesa. Situated in the northeast of the country and developed by Gamesa, its 15 wind power systems add up to a total installed capacity of 30 megawatts. The commissioning of this wind farm grows the Polish wind portfolio of RWE Innogy to an installed capacity of 152 megawatts.

"Taciewo and 152 megawatts now mark the midpoint of our Polish development targets. We intend to operate about 300 megawatts in Poland in 2015. Owing to the excellent Polish wind sites, we are on a good path and intend to continue our investments here. At present, our Nowy Staw wind farm with a capacity of 39 megawatts is under construction. It is due to be commissioned early in 2013“, explained Dr. Hans Bünting, CEO of RWE Innogy.

Taciewo can generate over 65,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to meet the equivalent requirements of over 32,500 Polish households per year and to avoid 65,000 tons of CO2 emissions. Wind turbines of the Gamesa G90-2.0MW type were installed at Taciewo. They have a rotor diameter of 90 and a hub height of 78 meters. Taciewo borders directly on the Piecki wind farm with a capacity of 32 megawatts commissioned by RWE Innogy back in 2010.

Overall, RWE Innogy now operates five onshore wind farms in Poland: Suwalki with over 41 megawatts has been on stream since 2009, followed by Tychowo (35 megawatts), Piecki (32 megawatts) and Krzecin (14 megawatts).
